You have more right to have a firearm in you vehicle than that even. You can have one in your car on lsu's campus which is a "gun free" zone. Also if your employer has a "rule" that says you can't have one on work property you can still have it in your car and there is nothing they can do about it.

About the only place I know of where you can't keep one in your car are a handful of state run hospitals.

So I can drive through the front gate at shell norco with a truck full of guns and they can't turn me around because of it?
