Consolation bracket for draft position is super fun.
Or restricted pick trading. Two pick trade/acquire. This limits the amount of suck a team can accumulate.

Or both.

One thing we could implement for sure is you can only get 1 player back in a trade for a draft pick

Over the history of the league how many different teams have been in the playoffs? I don't think it's the same teams over and over. Is it really a problem if nearing the playoffs only 6-8 teams of 12 are still competing? Why do we need all 12 in the hunt until the very end?
I've been the 1st place regular season team and close to the last place team. I didn't have a problem the year I sucked, I just tried to improve for the future. I was hit with two big injuries early in that year and there was nothing else to do. I think in basketball that is the just the way it is.
yeah you took the words out of my head and put them down here pretty well. i've been up, down, and all around
like in the real NBA, your impact players mean a frick ton. if that player gets injured, you're fricked, and there won't be a handcuff like in fantasy football. hell cp3s injuries turned rmcc's team from title-winner to shite (his drafting athletic specimens for potential didn't help, but cp3 killed him)
there is not going to be a way to keep the very bottom "in". a bad year or bad injury will literally make it impossible without somebody selling out (dealing that guy for more players will require another team selling out)

Usually it's 4-5 teams and the 6th team being there by default, unsure if it wants to sell out or make a run.
or you can use the selling out to your advantage. Last year I was pretty much out and decided to trade all my draft picks to update my keepers and make a run to get in the playoffs and have a shot. I made the playoffs and have a good keeper set. The problem is not the system its laziness by owners and them not being creative enough to get better

TDBL was the worst this year...half the league was out of contention from the start. Literally half the league drafted almost exclusively prospects or was Rick
Exactly, that league is in serious need of help and much of it's due to having an enormous amount of keepers which some people think is the answer to fixing this league. If you try to make a run in TDBL one year by making a lot of trades you're pretty much screwed for the next 3-5 years. Not very competitive. But I guess since the people on top there are the people who tend to want to blow everything up there is no uproar yet in TDBL

what can you provide for me? I need draft picks

Another option
Cut off draft pick trading in the offseason. It will make people be more careful and reluctant in trading picks knowing they cannot get them back.

I never have picks in that league and have been in the playoffs 5 years in a row and have won the whole damn thing.

let people run their teams how they want....if a team is in the bottom third two years in a row they get booted the frick out.

It's not about the teams, its about the league.
Its dumb IMO that a team can sell their picks to win and load their lineup, then turn around and trade those same players back in the offseason in exchange for the draft picks they lost. Some real strategy there

I can agree with that
Especially since I am never able to recoup my picks.
Reddfig on the other hand is good at that shite.
ETA: I would like to point out that wheeling and dealing is probably my favorite part of all these leagues...I think minimizing it substantially would decrease my enjoyment.

This is where those with picks can tell those owners to go pound sand. Force them to put those players back in the player pool & pick them up with their plethora of picks.
That being said I may be in the market for a 5th keeper

It doesnt work like that though. Because the teams with a lot of picks usually suck and need to fill 1 or 2 keepers
Hence..
