I also agree with KOTOR II. The way they handled Revan, IMO the most badass character in Star Wars history (yes, I'm aware of the magnitude of what I just said), earned everyone associated with that a game a swift kick in the arse.

He basically abandoned everyone from the first game to go off after the "true Sith" and never returned. What really pissed me off was some of the game designers originally intended to have Darth Nihilus' mask be made of Revan's jawbone or some stupid shite like that. Revan would skullfrick any Jedi or Sith of that Age.

Okay, this is a Yes and No No No for me.
They captured the feeling of S. King's "Mist" with the ending, but for a gamer it wasn't totally awarding.
When was your first play through of HL? IMO the series really takes off with HL2, then lands a facial with HL2:EP2 and Portal 2.

It's worth mentioning that obsidian didn't know the full story of Kotor 1 while making it. They were rushed into it and Kotor 1 wasn't out until too far into development to change everything. They wouldn't even let them play it early.

If you loved HL2, you need to play Portal 2. I can go on for days about HL/Portal lore.
EDT: What was so hard to digest about HL's ending? The giant baby? There are a lot of theories out there about Nihilanth(sp?), go down the HL/Portal Universe rabbit hole.

all of xen was just badly designed. lots of shitty platforming and throwing waves and waves of enemies. fight the giant baby and he just teleports you to even more terrible platforming. i unload the entire gluon gun into him and he dies. it was just

Well, technically KH hasn't had a full ending yet. Like yeah, there are pretty shitey endings for most of the games with the exception of KH2, but I see what you mean. I'm going to be more judgmental of the ending in KH3 as a true closure for the whole series. The ending better be the damn definition of Paramount or I'm going to be hella pissed...
