I'd love to hear a convincing argument for this. He did physically mature unusually early and that allowed him to put up very nice career numbers against other young teenagers, but what glaring physical advantages does he possess over starting SEC defensive players?

A) the same ones Williams has and more.

B) you assume he physically matured early and will now cease to mature further. I offer up the notion that he matured more and will continue to do so

LOL wont u look at the number of carries and competition. LF was out of the game or they let the little brother get carries. Sorry that the coaches at Aug didnt want to run him into the dirt like at Ehret. He had 23 plus carries in every game he played in.

He never missed a practice smh. He didint do live tackle only thud at one scrimmage. Look Williams is a good back but dont kid urself. Williams is a power back who will never break a gain over 45 here at LSU. Great tandem to be

Well, that is what happens more often than not with young physical freaks. For example, I've been 6'2 since I was 12-13 years old. People thought I was going to be a giant, then nothing. Stupid example, but I don't think Leonard has transformed much physically since that age either.

his upright running style worries me somewhat at the college level

Haha same shite said about AP and Marcus Allen.

Well, other than those two, what prolific RBs have there been with upright running styles in the last 30 years? And the fact that those guys (especially AP) struggled a lot with injuries is not exactly a good thing.

Leonard Fournette = Michael Jordan

Darrel Williams = Scottie Pippen

all I know is, people who are in the know, have been more than impressed with him, since he's arrived at LSU.

I am impressed by him too, I just think we need to pump the brakes a bit before labeling him a "once-in-a-generation" talent. He matured very early physically and put up some amazing numbers in HS. Other than that, there's nothing that stands out about him now over Williams, in terms of his future promise at LSU and the NFL. At least IMO.

I hope he sees this comment and pastes a screenshot in his locker.

And precisely why I am responding to your 'college level' comment. I saw AP play in person in college. He was man among boys. At the NFL I believe a runner like LF will learn when to hit the turf or he will be hurt often.

Allen and Peterson are just two HOF running backs who I know received that criticism early on

No, he doesn't.

I'd be much less worried about Fournette's durability at the college level if he was playing at that level when Marcus Allen, or even AP, did. The speed and strength of the college game has changed a lot just in the last 10 years. These guys aren't just full grown men, they're full grown beasts.

No doubt. I also don't see LF gettin 25 carries a game in this day an age.
Hell Allen played over 15 years. RBs are lucky to get 10 these days.

False

Williams isn't bad by any stretch, but based on the scrimmage he doesn't have anywhere near the burst or big play ability of Fournette. All of the talk about Fournette being mature, big, and strong only describes one part of his game.

i'm buying all the hype in LF, and I think he's a better than Williams, BUT, LSU has both, so it really doesn't matter, imo . I will say this, I think he will turn some heads, and I could see people saying "who the hell is this guy", when he makes a big play.
