The problem with this is it starts from the premise that Les Miles is telling you the truth.

Here is what we know for sure: Les Miles has not publicly named the starter. Both guys have gotten reps with the first team. That's it. We don't know the split, we don't know anything else.

My suspicion is, as this goes along, the guys know who the starter is going to be based on proportion of reps. Don't let paranoid Les' public misinformation campaign warp your perception.

Exactly. Les doesn't owe you or I any information. I'm sure he and his coaches can handle the QB situation as they see fit. I doubt he is concerned with my thoughts or opinions on the situation, nor should he feel that I NEED to know his.

I agree with the op ....
It's a fact when you have two qbs you have none ....

By not having a starter you not only hurt the qbs but you hurt the whole offense ....

The offense needs to function as a well oiled machine and it can't happen with a two qb system ....

And I'm not talking about one guy who gets two snaps a half ...

Les should name a starter.
Then we can all sit back and watch the Rant explode.

I remember that time that Florida had no quarterbacks in 2006 because they had two. That was a real bitch for them.

In 2006 they had a Veteran and a future Heisman trophy winner. This is not the same situation.

Not naming a starter and not naming a starter publicly are two different things. The starter will know he is starting this weekend. He has to mentally prepare and Miles knows that. He doesn't have to hold a press conference or have a parade everytime a decision is made.

I'm not saying it is. You have to read what is being responded to to actually understand what argument is being made. People say the Parcells if you have two you have none thing all the time. Florida in 2006 immediately refutes that proposition. Hell, Oklahoma in 2012 had Landry Jones (30 TDs and 11 Int) and Blake Bell (11 rushing TDs, belldozer ). Two quarterbacks isn't always a death sentence. Sometimes its really good. You can't just recite something as true if it can be refuted. That is the point. No one drew a comparison between 2006 Florida and LSU today. Try and keep up.

They installed a certain set of plays for tebow , leak took 80 percent of the snaps ..... Comparing lsu qb situation to fla. is apples and oranges.....

They weren't in a competition ... I was responding to a poster that said aj and bh would fight it out through September ....

If there is a competition clm and staff should have it figured out by now ....

First, read above.

Second, you couldn't even know what package they will have each since we haven't seen it yet (though on Morning Drive, it was reported that they have been developing packages for both). So you have no idea if one were to compare them whether that comparison would be apt or not. You're speculating, which is the whole point of why this thread is kind of ridiculous.

I was responding to one particular poster that said they would compete through September for the job ....

Not saying this is the case , as you say it's all speculation ....but if they have a two qb system IMO it will be a disaster ...

I agree if you have a package for a second guy it could work , but if they are taking turns every two possessions or so it will be a complete failure ....

This morning on Sirius/XM they interviewed the Wisconsin coach who is not naming his starting QB either. Quote "Why would I let LSU know who to prepare for now?". They also noted that Saban said pretty much the same thing the day before but not specifically about LSU just opponents in general.

but at this point when you're preparing for Wisconsin maximizing your starters reps would pay more dividends than splitting it up.

LSU has not started "Wisconsin-specific" preparation yet. I believe this Thursday is when they will start prepping for the Badgers. Up until then it has been learning about what LSU does.

I know there's not a lot of game film on either Jennings or Harris but why would Miles tell Wisconsin which QB they need to prepare for?

Make them have a plan for both QBs

Troy Smith and Justin Zwick. David Ash and Case McCoy (year 1). Riley Nelson and Jake Heap. Matt Flynn and RP. Kain Colter and Trevor Siemian. Russell and Relf.

All two qb systems without a "bulldozer" that were used with varying amounts of success. Let me stress, though, there was success. It wasn't the proverbial "no quarterback" situation. The point is, it doesn't always have to suck.
