Bro, they sent out voter reg cards to people when their food stamps went up right before the last election. Surely you're not surprised.

Oh, BTW, food stamps have been reduced since then. Votes bought and paid for.

So, it would be fine to set up voter registration tables at any major crisis, since increasing voter participation is what is important?

Set up a table after 9/11? Katrina? Any of the school shootings?

Sure, as long as some prudence is applied. Setting it up the day after obviously would be in poor taste. But I can't imagine a scenario where there is public outcry over something that may have some underlying political apathy, and a group seeing that as an opportunity to get those people more politically active, and being against that.

Don't see the problem with this. One of the apparent issues in the town is the black community doesn't have fair representation in the city's governing body. What better opportunity to educate them on ways to correct that and give them a voice.

i guess i just have a problem believing that third parties should educate these people on voting

i mean people are free to do as they wish, but it paints a bad picture. it's the definition of the "subtle racism of low expectations"

Most people in America were educated by third parties about everything including voting rights, why is this any different.

To me it paints the picture to voice your frustrations at the ballot box not by rioting in the streets.I am really not sure why anyone should upset about it unless it is just about the "other side" gaining votes.

I would be upset about anybody doing this. It is a sleazy political tactic. Party doesn't matter.

Of course not. It's called outreach, and over the past 20-30 years it's something the Democratic party has been very good at while the Republican party has been pretty horrible at.

I don't know, kinda depends on the message being given. If they are educating on proper ways to bring about change it is ok by me. If it just come vote Democrat to stick it to whitey then that would be different. JMHO Either way I have seen worse this week.

TUba, in the face of a growing debt crisis, why the frick do you think it is a good idea to let more poor folks vote? The more the poor vote, the less likely candidates that will do something about spending levels are elected.

Let? Is this a serious question? How about because it is their Constitutional right to vote?

Would you think it appropriate for a life insurance agent to set up a booth outside a funeral home and hit up the grieving parties as they left. Man these people are grieving. Didn't you see them walking out of that automotive store with rims!!
