Need Snake ID

My brother found this in his yard in Covington. He plans on keeping it around but doesn't know what kind it is. Any help is appreciated.

I know it's not a poisonous one. Looks like a good one to keep around to keep the rodent population down.

The general consensus here is that he is not poisonous...................so you should be able to just chop his head head off with a shovel or something, no need to break out the heavy artillery for this one.

Doesn't look like a poisonous snake.

I tend to kill them when in doubt. When I'm sure it's harmless, I'll relocate it to the wooded area down the street.

It's a black racer, usainits boltis.

If not careful it will grow into a west African gaboon viper. Bitis gabonica
