One thing that is different is the moms are hotter now, even into their 40's or 50's.

Well FOOD has a lot to do with it... Chicks in the 80's don't come close to what they look like now as far as body maturity....

Kids in the 80s respected their elders, unlike the youths of today.

They talk as if they knew everything, and what passes for wisdom with us is foolishness with them. As for the girls, they are forward, immodest and unladylike in speech, behavior and dress."

I was born in the 80's and I think childhood was a lot of fun then. We had video games and remote control toys and what we thought were cool electronics.

But we spent a lot of time outside. Football, kickball, cabbageball, basketball. Lots of bike riding and playing guns. we had laser tag, gotcha guns and played guns a lot.

I think now, people play more on electronics and are more distant and less active.

As far as fashion, I think it's better now. Clothes for the most part now are clean, muted and conservative.

let me just say that the 80s through the early 90s was the decade where we saw the most violent crime, abortions, teen pregnancies, and pretty much every other negative societal aspect

But your average person wasn't affected by that.

Crime and violence weren't issues for Joe America in the 'burbs. Compton, Baltimore, DC, Oakland, South Chicago, sure, but who cares? I'd take gang wars in the ghettos but a promising future for everyone else over the past ten years of not just stagnation but actual, factual slow declines in wages, disposable incomes, relative freedom, and quality of life.

I honestly can't see how any objective, rational person who experienced both decades could actually pick the last 10 years over the 1980s. Technology improvements aside, there are VERY few things better now. Even today's plusses are watered down by minuses. The people have better hairstyles and dress and look better but the downside is that far more people are obese now compared to the 80s. That's where the current advantages end. Music across all genres was WAY WAY WAY better in the 80s then now. TV today is a bit bette but only because of the sheer volume of programming available as opposed to the 80s. You have to wade through a lot more s### now to find the good stuff. Movies were better in the 80s though Pixar a current creation is arguably the greatest film company in any era. The economy, the media didn't constantly scare us, and politics weren't as ugly and devisive as they are now.

Some things are better now than 80's. The 80's were a lot more fun for young people than now days. I actually feel sorry for kids born in the last 10 years.

I'm pretty envious of them.

Living through the technological achievements that we made rather than being born in it I imagine would be amazing. The Nintendo 64, though is a 90's thing, is the most fun console I have ever played on.

Living in the 80's you had no idea what the future would be like. Same now, looking 30 years ahead.

Only a couple of dorms at LSU had A/C, you could park on campus, students could attend all home sporting events with just your ID, stadium dorm rooms, parachute pants, acid wash denim. I report, you decide.
