Game 8: Kentucky

History with LSU

These teams played every year from 1952 to 2002 but just three times since, an infrequency that will continue under the SEC’s permanent opponent schedule format. LSU has won five of the past six, including a 35-7 rout in 2011.

There are 8 SEC games a year. Of those 8, 6 will be intra-division games. Of the 2 remaining conf. games, 1 will be against a permanent inter-division opponent. That leaves 1 rotating inter-division game. Thus, LSU will play UK just as infrequently as they will play UGA, USC, Mizzou, Tenn. and Vandy. It's the way the schedule is set up. It has nothing to to with "politics".

I'm tired of listening to LSU fans piss an moan about Bama getting to play Tenn., while LSU has to play UF. Over the history of the SEC, Tenn has been the second best program. Bama has caught a "break" when it comes to playing Tenn. every year not because the SEC office is located in Birmingham, but because Tenn. has completely fallen apart as a program since 2008 while Bama has rebounded since that time.

The reality is that if Tenn. was the perennial power that it was prior to 2008, you would not hear one complaint about the Bama/Tenn. game. I hate Alabama, but blame Tenn. for not keeping up their end of the bargain.

You will have to ask the Bama league office. Write them a letter

Here's a serious question...when did the permanent opponent's scheduling format start? It thought it was after the USC/Arkansas expansion and creation of the divisions.

Why did LSU play UK from the early 90s until 2002?

Did the previous (Pre A&M/Mizzou) schedule only begin in 2003?

So are you saying you would like Kentucky as a permanent opponent again?

No Thanks!

It will stay that way until Tennessee becomes a powerhouse again.

LSU plays really poorly in Lexington. It's probably a blessing.

We shouldn't be playing them. We should be playing vandy or mizzou. But leave it up to the supposed best conference to not know how to rotate the fricking schedule.

I more hate the fact that Bama has had such a easy/lucky road since Saban has got here outside of his recruiting and coaching.

What I mean by that is that he has yet had to remove a key cog in his team prior to the season.

All the OOC opponents they had scheduled prior to him being there or during his time there, have been crappy the season they finally play. I mean I have only saw one decent one be at least as good as they were supposed to be. That was VT in 2009 who beat finished 10-3 and lost to them 24-34.

No holding calls all year? Yeah fricking right.

Tennessee being crappy the same time Bama has it's "Phoenix" rebirth to Champion status.

They did not play Tebow one time in the regular season from 07-09.

We've played UGA 3 times, USCe 3 times, and UF every year. Bama has played UGA twice, UF twice, USCe twice. I mean it's really not their fault those teams, except for UGA, were terrible each time they played them.

The thing I hate is that we stopped playing a crappy OOC team at the end of the year, to replace with a bye. Now for two years straight, we take our first bye deep into the fricking season, and our players will be tired the frick out. We need an earlier season bye.
