Without the last 11 years LSU not in top 20

They have LSU 9th overall (jumped Penn St. when they vacated those wins)

From 1896-1990 LSU was ranked 9th
From 1896-2000 LSU fell to 10th

From when the polls started in the 30's to present day the only 10 year period when LSU was ranked among the top 25 programs was '91-2000.

Hey we were the consensus champions

Still counts

And winning the natty in 2007 was more like winning a race where everyone keeps tripping over themselves. LSU just happened to be the fat kid who had more velocity rolling down

Hey I have witnessed UGA and tOSU fans go at it over 1942. I get it, and I take UGA's side every time in that debate. I'm just fricking with you.

Not only did OU play a very weak schedule in the 50's, they introduced some new words we've come to know and love, and set the benchmark for all others to follow.

The list is a representation of what pollsters thought of the programs at the time.

Nothing more. Arguing who played tougher teams or whatnot in hindsight doesn't matter.

In the history of the AP poll - Oklahoma has been ranked higher and more often than any other program.

Also of note...by their criteria...based purely on most high rankings...

Notre Dame is the team of the 1930's...

1940's - Michigan
1950's - Oklahoma
1960's - Alabama
1970's - Oklahoma
1980's - Nebraska
1990's - Florida State
2000's - Texas
2010's - Oregon
