Now am I the only one that thought the season 4 finale where Gus dies should have been the series finale?

No, but you are dumb

quote:

Gus- Dead

Correct
quote:

Cartel- dead

Well the entire mexican cartel isnt dead
quote:

Hank/Dea- thought the case was solved

Until the next week when the blue meth was still coming out as strong as ever in the same quantities
quote:

Ted Benneke- wasn't talking

frick that snake in the grass dickhead
quote:

Skylar- back in love with walt

debatable

At the end of season 4 Walt is the guy. He is the drug kingpin with all of his competition dead and everyone would have always wondered when he got caught and how. Where did he go from there? Any fan of the show knew he wasnt going to just quit cooking and settle back down into his family life. Season 5 wrapped the show up perfectly.

I could be wrong, but I think I read where Gilligan was unsure if the series would continue past season four due to business shite. That is why the end of season four felt the way it did. Gilligan wanted there to be some resolution in case the series didn't return.

Seasons 5a/5b were fantastic. I didn't find it to be rushed at all, and I really can't imagine a better way to end the series.

Without season 5 we get no Ozymandias, no Hank on the toilet, no "tread lightly", no fake confession tape, no theme song to accompany Walt's escape at the end of Granite State (personal favorite moment of the series), and there's also no "I did it for me" revelation to Skylar, which was a fantastic scene.

Agree. Just got done watching the whole series. Took about a month. It just got better and better with each season. Season 4 ending was incredible but the way season 5 went was great. They did a wonderful job ending the story with the final season.

Reading this thread is making me want to do a rewatch. I wish I could watch it again without knowing what happens.

No. Walt clearly stated that he was "in the empire business."

He said that in the 5th season.
