Damn Baker plays 2 games last year and now out for the whole season. Not quite living up to that 40+ mil contract he signed.
People say the moves we made for Julio hurt us, I disagree. Paying a shitty, made of sticks T 40-plus million to play 2-4 games in 2 years is terrible.
That and doubling down on bad investments. Example, making a trade with Houston for TJ Yates (a backup qb) for Akeem Dent (backup LB). Then to lose Weatherspoon and a LB in the trade. Just bad luck, bad timing, bad decision making. Just, bad.
Oh, my Falcons, the fricking Cubs of the NFL.

They both hurt you imo.

I think the two lines Def and Off hurt atl last year and it seems to be heading into this year without much improvement.
If they can't keep ryan upright in this div its gonna be a long year.

They've moved Matthews to LT, and Holmes will be the starting RT.

Where'd you see this? I know Jake's gonna go to LT (was always destined to). I hadn't seen anything concrete on Holmes though. Other than saying he'll compete with Carimi to get the RT spot.
ETA: I think with Ryan Schraeder (big turn-style) and Carimi having a shitty ankle, it's Holmes's job to lose. Sadly. Jesus, vodka. Need more vodka.

I hate the Falcons as much as the next guy, but they've had some really tough breaks regarding injuries over the past few seasons. It seems like that O line will never stay fully healthy. Cam, Hicks, and Galette are going to have a field day.

NO! We're still going to slaughter you! We're gonna win 0 to -3. The NFL will take away 10 points when Jimmy dunks after 1 TD. Then the Commish will come in and declare the game over.
0 to -3. Shitheads!

The #Falcons made the switch. Rookie Jake Matthews at LT and Lamar Holmes at RT.

wouldn't that be 0 to -4 or do they still let us kick the XP?

There is such a small window for being successful, and unless you find success in the draft (or UDFA market like us) you will wake up one day and your team will be void of any young talent. If you fail with new players across the board (like the Falcons), then you are left with Free Agency, which gets expensive when you are trying to hold onto your own talent at the same time.
Matt Ryan is as good as anyone when he has time in the pocket, but the lack of depth on the O-Line is really starting to hurt you guys. Going into the preseason I, as well as some others, were concerned that we had no real backups after Lelito. After seeing our 2nd and 3rd string guards hold the line against starting D-lines has been the most exciting thing about camp so far for me.
Objectively speaking, it's a shame that Mike Smith might be looking at 2 consecutive losing seasons due to no fault of his own. I think much of Atlanta's problem is management and poor scouting.

Can't say I disagree with this at all. However, Smith is the head coach and as HC you should be able to limit penalties, teach tackling, identify weaknesses of the team and work with the D or O coordinator to scheme for those. There's been a severe lack of that with this FO. We've had a few sets now of new O and D coordinators and still have the same issues (poor tackling in games, penalties at crucial times, lack of depth at Oline and no pass rush). There's only 2 constants here - Thomas Dimitroff and Mike Smith.
The other half of this story is that Atlanta has been historically bad since inception. Recent playoff struggles aside, this has been the best ATL has been consistently. But recent playoff failures are still playoffs and is much better than the shite show we had in the 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000s.

I think Smith is a good administrator, but imo, you need a headcoach with some vision. The team doesn't seem to have one. For the first couple of years, they were ground and pound, and then they tried to reinvent themselves after the playoffs loss to the Packers as an explosive team. Now they're trying to convince themselves that they're tough.
I would love for this to go on forever, but seriously, you need to get someone in there with some direction.

Yep. Who's left though? Only people I ever wanted were Lovie Smith (now in TB) and Chucky Gruden but I don't think he'll un-retire for the ATL job.
Best case scenario for Saints fans would be to have ATL go 8-8 or 7-9 and have Smitty weasel his way into keeping his job.
