I'm wondering if the "public events" for house of wolves will continue in the way blades of Crota used to? I enjoyed taking a few blades of Crota down throughout the day.

So far loving it - went from 29 to 32 in one night.
Now its all about ascending new gear to get to 33/34 and finding the weapons that I really want and ascending them. Fatebringer, Gjallehorn (spelling), Icebreaker, and any hand cannons that are good are tops of my list.
Got Hawkmoon and a new DLC Leg rocket launcher on my first lvl 28 Prison of Elders run. Pretty psyched.
That new special weapon type sidearm is legit.
The story , as always, is pointless and makes almost no sense or has any context that makes you want to care.
Farm public event chests for keys, run PoE, get shite.
Overall I like it a lot. Breath of fresh air for the game. Going to give Trials of Osiris a shot but I don't really go for pvp much.

I only got to play a little but it almost feels like we are finally where it should have been at launch. Do I still have to do raids to get to level 34 or can I take an armor to that point?

I checked it out a little bit before work this morning so didn't spend too much time. Unless I missed an area, the reef Social area seems small. I like how you can upgrade your exotics to the new stats on the fly by using an Exotic shard. Already upgraded my Gjallahorn, Truth, Thunderlord, Ice Breaker, Thorn, Red Death & Vex Mythoclast to 365.
I haven't checked out any missions though but I plan on diving into it this afternoon after work. I like how you can trade ascendant shards with the speaker for motes of light, glimmer or other ascendant energies. I was hoping to see some new items in the Speaker and Eva Levante's stock but it appears there's nothing new.

I thought the new atheric light, core or whatever it's called was needed for both legendary and exotic items but it appears as though that's only needed for Legendary weapons/armor.
Exotic weapons only need 1500g, weapon parts and 1 exotic shard. Exotic armor pieces need 1500g, armor materials and 1 exotic shard.

I may be wrong but I think that's for Legendary items only. I was going to upgrade an exotic helmet on my warlock but couldn't because I didn't have enough hadronic essence and it said it only needed 1500g, 1 exotic shard and 22(?) hadronic essence. That's all I know. I wasn't keeping up with the in's and out's of House of Wolves prior to launch (been playing a lot of Dark Souls) so I could be wrong but I'm telling you what I saw and what was needed when I upgraded my weapons this morning.

To ascend an exotic to new stat caps, you need an exotic shard, some Glim and some parts. Did my helm of saint 14 and my Armamentairum.
To ascend Legendary stuff to new caps, you need Etheric Light. Light can be had in PoE lvl 34 once per week and nightfall runs as a random drop.
Armor and Weapon cores are earned in PoE lvl 32 and 34 (I think) to buy new "raid" gear.
3 new unascended purps and a fully ascended exotic armor piece will get you to 33 I think.
Exotic + 3 fully ascended purps gets you to 34 for sure.

I haven't had a chance to do any of the new stuff except some story missions, and I upgraded a few weapons and my helmet. I'm going to try out PoE tonight before I have to take an break for a few days because I'm headed to the SEC tournament.

I had a bunch of crucible and vanguard points saved and purchased a whole new set of armour yesterday. Next purchase will be some new weapons. I prefer a scout rifle and they are releasing two new exotic scout rifles. Anxious to see what Xur is toting this week.

Jesus lvl 34 POE is serious.
But yeah, you only need 1500 glimmer, class resource, and an exotic shard to get a previously maxed out exotic to 42 light.
For a previously maxed legendary you need 1500 glimmer, class resource, and a new item called etherial something. The only place I've seen you can get that is lvl 34 or 35 POE.
But, you can pretty easily get to 33 as soon as you're done with the story. Max out an exotic and beat the lvl 32 POE to get an item to bring Varyks and he'll give you a 42 light arm piece.

I had about three for each character left. After getting the same exotics I had broken down a few. But yeah getting them from him as well. I'm really interested to see what he has considering this is the first week of the dlc. Plus trials of Osiris go live Friday

How do you get to play Prison of Elders? I know it's up and running. I haven't played any of the new story missions yet, probably start this weekend.
