I have another Noob question for you guys (but im about to crack lvl 10 LIKE A BOSS )
Is there any benefit to disassembling equipment or weapons or is this basically the same as just discarding it? I have a bunch of lower level weapons but would like to trade up if possible

I was wondering if there was any benefit to keeping lower level stuff. I've always discarded and kept just the best stuff. Any reason I shouldn't be?

You can store them and use them for other characters if you want

I thought about that, but all the gear would be useless unless you made the same character, and you could store guns, but you couldn't use them until you got to that level anyway. I think now that I'm level 20 I may keep more for another one that gets to 20.

Just an FYI, the agent of the nine exotic dealer is located in the west tower (where the speaker is) where you see the red dot:

Xur has an exotic titan helmet but I didn't want it. I gambled on the exotic engram and got this.
Additional grenade, and extra special / heavy weapon ammo.

I thought about doing the same this morning before work but decided to go with the sure thing because with my luck with engrams, it would have turned into a green
