I agree, NIN/Renor is my all time favorite band,
Id also say that Trent's best stuff came out of Nothing Studios, down on magazine st. At the converted funeral parlor he called home for a while.
The entire Fragile album, the rehearsals for fragility 1.0 and 2.0, and one of a much overlooked great album, Still.
NOLA has music voodoo/spirits/energy to it, if you can feed off it and manipulate it right u get results like these.
