"How much these guys are really making in 2014:

Aaron Rodgers - $22,000,000

Colin Kaepernick $21,000,000

Matt Ryan $20,750,000

Joe Flacco $20,100,000

Drew Brees $20,000,000

Peyton Manning $19,200,000

Jay Cutler $18,100,000

Tony Romo $18,000,000

Matthew Stafford $17,666,667

Eli Manning $16,250,000

Any Dalton $16,000,000

Tom Brady $14,120,000

Philip Rivers $13,628,571

Sam Bradford $13,000,000

Ben Roethlisberger $12,513,235

Alex Smith $8,416,667

Carson Palmer $8,000,000

Matt Schaub $6,750,000

Andrew Luck $5,527,000

Cam Newton $5,506,375

Robert Griffin III $5,279,775

Matt Cassel $5,250,000

Blake Bortles $5,163,703

Josh McCown $5,000,000

Matt Moore $4,000,000

Chad Henne $4,000,000

Michael Vick $4,000,000

Ryan Fitzpatrick $3,750,000

Ryan Tannehill $3,167,211

Jake Locker $3,146,501

Christian Ponder $2,537,500

EJ Maneil $2,221,325

Johnny Manziel $2,062,149

Geno Smith $1,245,901

Bryan Hoyer $982,500"

And this is why the NFL is becoming unwatchable. These idiot owners sink all this money into a salary-cap restricted payroll league and then freak out when these fragile assets get injured. So, they change the game to protect these fragile assets. The rule changes make these QBs even more valuable, which further drives up their salaries relative to other positions (which will necessitate rule changes to further protect them). Look what happened when Tom Brady got his knee hurt. Kraft was practically in Goodell's office before the final whistle of that game rigging the ridiculous "Bernard Pollard" rule.

Within ten years, Kraft and Goodell will seriously propose no tackling of QBs. Book it.

Cutler? wtf

After this season, y'all won't be saying stuff like that about Cutler. He's about to blow up.

Will he get injured in the explosion and miss 5 games?

Even if he does, Jimmy Clausen is there to lead the playoff charge.

Bradford's base is 14m but he actually will make 13m? Am I reading this correctly?

Keep in mind it is base salaries. Still, some are pretty interesting

Exactly.

Outside of Manning, a lot of the good QBs -- Rodgers is a prime example -- have their money tied up in roster bonuses and signing bonuses spread out over the life of the contract. If hazard a guess that these are the week-by-week game checks.

Still think they need to find a middle ground.

Some young guys that break out early get absolutely screwed with these contracts. I understand they were making too much money, but they are forced into long term contracts that pay them a quarter of their value with noway out.

Especially running backs. They only really have until 30 to make money, 4 year contract making scraps...then that team could franchise you twice and you won't hit the open market until you're 28 and teams aren't looking to pay you much.

Baltimore: Joe Flacco, $6 million

Well, that is correct for his salary.

In 2014, Flacco has a $6 million base salary that's guaranteed for injury only, but that voids once the first option is paid. His salary-cap figure is $14.8 million in the second year of the deal.
