I already bought a replacement below because I can't go months without it. and what's the point if BGA chips on HDMI board fail again after a year or two? It'd be another hassle of calling, dropping off receiver, waiting, etc.
Abandoning lead solder and using BGA chips was a big fail by Onkyo (and other electronics manufacturers)

wait..so you didn't get it fixed and sell it on ebay??
all i know is the 289 page 5008/3008 thread at AVS says onkyo has been very generous about fixing this issue out of warranty for customers.
