For craft that cost tens or hundreds of millions of dollars, they seem to be held together by bailing wire. You always hear of them losing steering or power at the most inconvenient times.

It lost power. If you loose power in the Mississippi you're going to crash.

They're powered by engines and are prone to failure just like anything else is.

I feel like some of you have never seen high traffic areas of the Miss. in south Louisiana. It's pretty impressive how well those tug boats and lines keep the boats moving around each other without incident.
