-Ryan and Kelly was a big loss because those characters had come into their own

Characters had run their course. Had closure in the previous season

quote:

-The best thing left on the show was the Jim and Dwight dynamic and you got rid of that in half the episodes with Jim in Philly

It was a final season and they were both moving on. Jim in Austin, Dwight as Regional Manager. Season was about closure for all the characters. Had to send them on their seperate paths.

quote:

-The Jim/Pam marriage stuff was crap, with sound guy's abruptly ending story making it worse.

Two finally came back to realizing what made them happy together. Their struggle wasn't as bad as people made it. They had an unplanned child, got married, had another child, started a business, and Pam realized she was not going to be a huge success in the art/business world. Lot of stress on a newly married couple and the show depicted that. Having them not figure it out and end up happy would have been an insult.

quote:

-Making Andy an a-hole for 80% of the season didn't help
-The sloppy episodes that jammed in the pilot of Dwight's spinoff that are pretty much ignored after they're done
-Trying to recreate an office romance with Pete and Erin except Pete was boring

All of these are the only knocks on the Season. Can't defend them, though the relationship wasn't terrible and I enjoyed the reappearance of stalker Gabe and Andy and Pete's conflict at times.

quote:

-A good finale doesn't make a good season, also why is Michael in the finale for 30 seconds?

It wasn't a good finale, it was a great finale. And the season stood alone as good even without it. Michael's involvement was the absolute right amount. He had his finale, which was great as well, and this was about the other characters. He had to be there though for something as important as Dwight's marriage.

just finished my re-watch of season 3

I can pretty much watch Season 3 on repeat and still laugh.

I watched the Merger last night before going to bed, when each person walks into the office and Michael says something.

"wow, you're very exotic looking, was your dad a GI?" and Pam look at him

Takes Martin in and "Follow me I will show you were all the slaves work"

That whole episode is great. "I know everything about film. I've seen over 240 of them"

Andy was fantastic in seasons 3 and 4.

Andy was better in a supporting role. When he became a major character it never really clicked for me.

I still think the duel between Andy and Dwight was hilarious.

Dwight Schrute: So, what weapon?

Andy: My bare hands.

Dwight Schrute: That is stupid. I will use a sword and I will cut off your bare hands.

People who try to convince themselves that the show was still good after Michael left is just delusional.

Also, it's way too soon for a 'reunion'. I miss this damn show!

Nonsense. The show still had a lot of great moments. Perhaps the consistency dropped off from week to week, but it was still enjoyable.

The Office is my favorite show of all time. I spent years feeling like I was growing with the characters. I am currently watching it from the beginning for the 3rd time and I keep noticing little things I never noticed before.

I agree that Michael leaving largely changed the show, but Holly was PERFECT for him. There were plenty of great moments after that though.

The finale was fantastic and I give it at 10/10. Michaels return was perfect and completed the last element of the show IMO. I thought they did a terrific job in transitioning out. I loved the wedding and Dwight giving Jim and Pam a severance package.

Also. Niagra part 1 and 2 were the best two episodes of the entire series IMO.

My guess is you stopped watching and never saw season 9.

I saw "Wedding Crashers" accidentally. I bought a ticket for "Grizzly Man" and went into the wrong theater. After an hour, I figured I was in the wrong theater, but I kept waiting. Cause that's the thing about bear attacks... they come when you least expect it.

This was where he did the murder scene prank. (Forgot that I liked these episodes when they were at the Sabre conference) The pranks alone on this show were legendary.
