4 prong or 6 prong platinum ring for 1.58 carat diamond?

Round diamond.
4 prong would make it appear larger but have a square look. 6 prong would appear round and would be more secure.

i got a 4 prong for a diamond that size and it worked just fine, looks great

Doubt many people notice a diamond that little anyway, so it doesn't really matter. Do like you did with the diamond and go the cheap route.

Y'all don't make fun of him. 1.5 carats makes a nice sized accent stone. But how big is the main diamond though?

i have not seen a 6 prong setting that i like.

i say go 4, but it really only matters what she likes.

I had my jeweler copy the Tiffany's six prong for my wife. It holds a 2.55 carat . Here is a link to the setting:

there are other things to consider, like type of prongs and the ring itself.
