Yes. At somewhere between 275 and 300. Cook it slow and then sear it on high at the end.

is it that much better than getting the grill up to 700+ (on an egg) and cooking it to medium rare?

The key is to get it to 125 degrees, internal temp. This was a thick steak. Less time for a thinner steak, obviously.

I should mention that it was also indirect heat, to avoid flare-ups.

You can do this on an egg, I would imagine. Try it and see, but it was fantastic.

This is the method I use as well. Sometimes I brush melted butter on it before searing.
