You may save $30-50 a year in utility costs with front loaders, but you will incur a greater rate of failure, and much more costly repairs.

I typically advise against front loaders, though I currently have a set myself (Only because they are LG Tromm units I paid less than $150 for)
The best you can get as far as washing ability and long term lasting. Would be a Whirlpool or Frigidaire set with a manual timer and knobs on the front. It will give you 20 years if taken care of.
