All of these can done in under an hour and by folks in shape, but which of these activities would be more impressive?

My vote would be:

1. Swim 1 mile
2. Run 5 miles
3. Bike 25 miles a distant third.

Swimming 1 mile is much more difficult that the other 2 for an average person.

You should just do all three. Save the swimming for last.

It depends, what type of terrain are we running/biking on? Are we swimming against a current or a huge fricking swimming pool?

I think people are underestimating 25 miles on a bike. That's some tour de france shite.

definitely swimming…if you aren't a seasoned swimmer, it's doubtful the average human can even swim a full mile before exhaustion….biking would be second hardest

running 5 miles is easy as frick…average a 11 minute + mile…can't believe people are picking that as #1

If we're talking about the average person, biking in by far the easiest. However, if you had a triathlete, the 25 mile bike would give you the highest calorie burn out of the three. A 25 mile time trial can be hard as shite if you're pushing it.

Most people can't bike 25 miles in an hour.

Swimming by a mile.

A standard triathlon or half ironman includes a 1.2 mile swim, a 13.1 mile run, and a 56 mile bike.

I don't think the average in shape person could swim a mile.

I doubt very seriously if the majority of "folks in shape" can ride 25 in under an hour. So, no, cycling is not a "distant" third....
