This might hurt some feelings, but the guy isn't LSU caliber. Saw him play last year and wasn't impressed. He's a nice player but that's about it.

Who the heck is Harris? Surely you don't mean Brandon Harris who won't even be on the team four years - or maybe even three years - from now?

Just a local kid that has all around talent and size, which makes local fans want to see him succeed for a local team.

Hit 2 three run bombs in state semi finals to lead his team to finals and has never really dedicated himself to that sport.

Went head to head with Patterson in semi final and probably deserved the win at the end w a chip shot FG, but kicker was slumping and had no confidence, so Pellerin forced a throw into coverage and was picked on a deflection.

It should have been apparent to those watching that game that Patterson is more elusive and accurate, and was a class behind Pellerin. JP doesn't make people miss, he's a bull rusher. He depends more on separation from his receivers, whereas Patterson is timing routes.

Patterson is elusive when he needs to be, but still a pass first QB. Pellerin could become a starter in the SEC, but won't have the luxuries his present offensive system and level of competition provide. He will have to absorb a lot of punishment and improve on his accuracy and decision making.

He's not a high MLB pick currently, and even if he did...STILL have Harris and Patterson in front of both. Both of those guys are insurance policy types.

Agreed.

Very athletic very raw talent. Played against him when he's pressured he crumbles.
He doesn't run a 4.6

Yes he does. He is fast and big and strong, I'll give him that.

Crawled on his belly? So he didn't want to go to LSU that bad then?

That kid is really good. I know we have the ability to take kids from all over the country now, but he's a special player.

As a QB I'd agree with you. As a pure athlete maybe a TE/WR this kid is absolutely LSU caliber.

Hey everyone. My first post, but I am certain that I have some pertinent info here on JP. I am a Catholic High/NI alumni Class of 77, and I have attended the overwhelming majority of their games through all these years.

Case in point, Catholic High vs Loreauville last year in Loreauville. BIG game. ULL sent Coach Hudspeth in on his chopper to scout the CHS receiver Belefontaine (sp?) that they were going to sign, and I guess JP as well. CHS Coach Brent Indest is a tremendously aggressive play caller, and they went downfield again and again, and broke the back of Loreauville...and very talented team, before halftime. Pellerin was unstoppable. He can throw from the pocket, throw on the run, tuck and run, and he is BIG.

I also know that, through my daughter, who knows his ex-girlfriend, that he very much wanted an LSU offer. Don't know his likeliness to flip, but who knows.

Long and the short...this kid is truly legit, and IS an SEC caliber QB with proper coaching. Like others have said, I sure hope letting him get away doesn't burn us in the future.

He is but his on the field speed was nothing special. His receiver that committed to ULL was very solid too though if he starts running downhill and becomes less choppy in his moves he will be a scary player.

I'm just going off the camp where I watched him outrun every running back present except for Guice.

I'm just going off the actual football game where he broke away for some good runs and we were able to chase him down without much problem. He was very good though and will only get better.

Hudspeth went to scout and wound up signing Fusilier.

Pellerin is deceptively fast. I know you hear that often with recruits, but it truly is the case here. He runs well and has a very large stride, so while he looks like he is hardly moving, he is actually gobbling up yards quicker than most.

By no means is he a polished QB, but his athleticism is top notch and I've always thought he'd be an elite WR at the next level.

Let me break this down for you so you can see this visually.

2015
Harris - SO.
Pellerin - FR.

2016
Harris - JR.
Pellerin - rFR/SO.
Franks - FR.
Patterson - FR.

2017
Harris - SR. [If he is still here]
Pellerin - rSO./JR.
Franks - rFR./SO.
Patterson - rFR/SO.

So once AGAIN, Harris, and/or Patterson&Franks will always be in front of Pellerin.

I see that there are a lot of Pellerin supporters here. I get it. The kid can play. But he's not on the same level as Franks and Patterson. So, is it worth it to pursue and offer Pellerin with the likelihood that we may end up with two elite QB's in the '16 class? Also, McMillan's onboard already. Like thunderbird1100 said, Pellerin would likely be behind Jennings and/or Harris for the majority of his career too. The depth at QB could fill up pretty quickly if we signed him. I just don't think he's a take this year.
