Llive like to Fox2 video feed of the riot coverage. LINK

The shooting victim was identified as Michael Brown, 18, a 2014 graduate of Normandy High School who was scheduled to begin classes at Vatterott College on Monday.

Brown was shot at approximately 2:15 p.m. in the 2900 block of Canfield Drive.

His mother, Lesley McSpadden, said the incident occurred as her son was walking to his grandmother's residence.

quote:

“I know they killed my son," McSpadden told an acquaintance. "This was wrong and it was cold-hearted."

Her son, she continued, "doesn't kill, steal or rob. He doesn't do any of that.”

quote:

The unnamed officer has been placed on paid administrative leave.

"We are hoping for calm and for people to give us a chance to conduct a thorough investigation," Jackson told the Post-Dispatch.

County Police spokesman Brian Schellman promised a "lengthy investigation."

"We're still trying to piece together what happened and why," Schellman said.

As the afternoon wore on activists, public figures and others arrived on the scene to urge calm.

State Sen. Jamilah Nasheed, D-St. Louis, said she would petition the U.S. Justice Department for a formal investigation on Monday.

Probably should unlink that pic. Pretty sure dead body pics are frowned upon.

Weird reaction to your son just passing away.

The fact that there's a La'Toya there calling it an execution makes me think that there's another side to this story...

Regardless of the truth, do you all notice how virtually nobody sides with the police and everyone is comfortable making the assumption that the police were in the wrong? I do. And I don't wonder why.

It may or may not be true, but in St. Louis the 17-year-old's have been doing a great job of killing each other (and those who have vehicles and/or posessions they'd like to borrow) for quite some time now.

I don't have any sympathy for people who are killed while breaking the law.

There's always a cause and an effect.

The police killed him with excessive force.

But he'd be alive if he didn't steal from a store.

Scrolled through the link. Saw Michael skolnick from the travel thing is already all up in this.

I feel bad for the lad and his mother but I'd bet a dollar to a dime he did more than steal a kit Kat

I really don't care if the black community of St. Louis is upset about this shooting.

They sit passively by night after night in city after city as black youth slaughter each other in the streets by the scores yet they want to burn stuff when a black kid catches a bullet in a cop shooting?

They have no credibility.

So, when will this be all over CNN, yet not be shown at all on FoxNews?

I don't like cops as much as the next guy, but are people really dumb enough to believe that policemen would execute an unarmed teenager in broad daylight in the street for no reason? Really speak up if you do.

What percentage of cops do anything that is actually beneficial to society?
