I still blame police. If the information that they had all along had been released immediately, we don't have 4 days of protesting and violence.

If it weren't so comical, this situation would be tragic.

So is it confirmed that the officer was black?

doesn't matter what race the officer is, it matters that the stop was justified.

robbed, not shoplifted

Shoplifting is just stealing goods. This was an aggressive instance of shoplifting. But there's no point in drawing a distinction between the two.

Again, the officers didn't make them get violent. That would be the protesters strong arming the police into releasing info that they aren't ready to release. THE CITIZENS WERE VIOLENT ON THEIR OWN, THEY WERE VANDALIZING ON THEIR OWN, THEY WERE LOOTING ON THEIR OWN. They should take responsibility for their actions instead of always blaming everyone else.

but do they have jurisdiction over Ferguson akin to a sheriff's department?

Absolutely zero. They can only come in if asked.

Well the officers didn't make them burn out the city, they did it on their own. Don't blame the police cause the community decided to act like animals.

Nope. This one is on the police and a shitty communication tree. Top to bottom.

So CNN confirming officer is white.... I am amazed that the Chief would call out the name and not state that there are multiple Darren Browns within the St Louis area police departments

But the Chief has fricked this up from the start, so not surprising.

Yes there is, this was a strong arm robbery, not shoplifting, and the fact that he showed force is very different than simply taking something. It shows a propensity for being forceful and violent, which will come into play whether or not he assaulted the officer

So the threat of violence doesn't matter? How often do you assault people during the course of your work day and just chalk it up to doing routine business?
