Anyone have any idea where you can buy older maps of the mouth of the river? Am wanting to put a few maps up at the camp from old to current to make a nice display and also discussion point of how much things have changed over the last 250 years. TIA

Some of the auction houses in New Orleans have stuff come up from time to time. I get emails showing what for Neal and New Orleans Auction Galleries are auctioning. Also some of the antique stores in New Orleans might have them.

I had a link to a whole bunch of them at one time. Let me see if I can find it.

You can find some old surveys at www.glorecords.blm.gov

These are original surveys from the 1800s. Somebody on here owns or works for a print shop and could print them for you.

My grandpa used to have one hanging up from the 50's in his house in pilottown. Sucks we lost it in Katrina.

I remembered being suprised how some areas had less land than they do today. Although a lot of areas had more land. Pilottown had a lot of floating marsh that mostly went away in Betsy &Camille.

The bar pilots or river pilots may have some in their collection if you know any pilots.

We were in New Orleans this weekend. That armory antique store on Royal st had some old maps. They were closing so I didn't get to look too close.
