We've shown success playing in this formation eg. Texas A & M 2012

This year, we have huge depth at DE and at the OLB and ILB positions. DT is a spot of weakness especially with the recent injuries at that position. Put beckwith and welter on the field with lamar louis/debo and kwon. Either way, I have faith in Chavis

You need a dominant NG to run a 3-4 and we don't have that.

We will run a mustang package that may have a 3 man front at times, but there's no way we'll employ an actual 34.

LSU playing a 3-4 would be very odd to me.

Also we don't have the players for it, you're right or DTs aren't a big strength, and we certainly don't have a big NG space eater

No. We dont have the personnel to run this

Should be /thread

One injury shouldnt change our whole scheme.

I could see us in nickel and mustang frequently...but thats also the way the game has trended recently

We've never used a 3-4. We've used a 3-2-6 against teams like A&M.

I think that LSU should play in the defensive scheme that the coaches (who have FAR more experience than anyone on this Board) feel gives LSU the best chance to win football games.

No. The Mustang package is much better suited to Chavis's scheme and the type of athlete that LSU has. (basically a 3-2-6 with the extra safety coming down into the box often)

Wait, are you telling me it's not as easy as switching your defense on Madden or NCAA??!

No way. To the OP, please tell me you have never played football or you're joking.

Will we run some three man fronts? Yes. Will we ever run a legit 34? No.

Chief likes fast linebackers, and will not hesitate to give up size for speed.
