Potential character descriptions and actors/actresses for True Detective?

VanityFair is claiming they have the scoop at the very least on character descriptions as well as the actors/actresses in the lead for the respective roles. Some are pretty vague but here you go (copying and pasting since the article has gone down twice since I tried to post it).

quote:
Ani Bezzerides (Elisabeth Moss): Monterey sheriff with a troubled past that has led her to a gambling and alcohol addiction. Many people are drawing comparisons to Moss’s role in the under-the-radar Sundance series Top of the Lake. If you’ve only seen Moss play Peggy Olsen, you can watch Top of the Lake for yourself on Netflix to get a better sense of her range.
quote:
Ray Velcoro (Colin Farrell): Another damaged detective character. This could give Farrell a chance to go way, way out there.
quote:
Paul Woodrugh (Taylor Kitsch): Possibly our third detective, a young, handsome veteran who is, no doubt, also quite damaged. If this is Kitsch doing his Heathcliff of Texas Friday Night Lights thing filtered through Lone Survivor, we’re in for a treat.
quote:
Frank Semyon (Vince Vaughn): The central antagonist. Not a murderer, per se, but a shady businessman and former thug who is trying to use his influence with local politicians to put a railway in place between Northern and Southern California and reap the financial benefits. The California setting and the idea of a businessman using public works for corrupt financial gain calls to mind John Huston’s great villainous character in Chinatown. The idea of Vaughn using his patented charm offensive for nefarious purposes is downright delicious.

This seems very outside the box but it could go horribly wrong?
I almost think they shouldn't have a second season for fear it will be a serious disappointment.

That seems good. Farrell is going to give an Emmy worthy performance.

Sounds like they just made up vague character descriptions based on the random actors that have been rumored for the roles....no way all those guys are in it

IMHO, Vince Vaughn is 2015's Wooderson.

Moss would play Ani Bezzerides, a sheriff from Monterey, Calif.
Cool. Hope they film it here - my hometown.
