Went to look for my bulldog that ran off last weekend and came upon this.
It was very poor(skin and bones) if it wouldnt have been in the NF I would have put it out of its misery.
I knew there were wildlife biologist doin a bear survey not far from us, so
I informed them. Ill check back with them tomorrow and see if they found him.

Not saying he wasn't in bad shape, but the bears we have in Louisiana often look poor, especially in south Louisiana. They look like 100 lb racoons. Long legs and a slender body.
But for one to hang out on the road with vehicles passing may suggest he/she was a little ill.
And I don't think there's anything wrong with a dirty truck. A clean truck is the one I worry about.

We got within 10ft of this bear. It was staggering
and could bearly stand.
we've got a lot of bears here. I believe someone poisoned this one.
In Baker and Columbia county, where Im located
its a misdemeanor to kill a bear, the rest of the state(Fl) it's a felony.
The biologist doin the study said they got over 2000 dna samples from Osceola NF.

It does look scrawny judging by the ones I've seen both in the Smokys and NELA.

Looks like that is near where I hunted last year we had a ton of them in Sanderson couldn't keep feeders in the air. Had one build a den 10 feet from my stand found his arse walking in one morning. Damn near screwed my whole season up.

I walked up one one in the top of a pine tree about 20 yards from me in the apalachicola national forrest one time carrying nothing but a bow. We made eye contact, my sphincter got really relaxed, and I slowly backed away until I was out of sight; at which point I started running

I had one tight rope walk across my back fence then jump down into woods behind my house. I got about 10 feet away before I realized what was going on.
They are spotted around my hood quite often.
