Prolly. If he is within 2 prolly not. But any moron can see this difference. If you are injured but still may win, it makes sense to tough it out and go for it risking potential injury. But if you have no chance only a dumbass risks keeping playing

I don't think it's a huge shock that a person would be more likely to endure pain if they are playing well. I don't think that's a Tiger thing.

If a QB injures his shoulder and causes some serious pain when he throws, he will still play as long as he can toss the pigskin. The minute the pain causes a bad throw or interception, they are gonna sit a few plays out, if not head to the lockerroom.
