Zeiss Terra Riflescopes

Any OB'ers own one of these yet? I'm even more confused on making my impeding scope purchase after looking at Zeiss ones over the weekend. I've had my mind set on a Meopta MeoPro 4x12x50 for a month or so now. I haven't purchased simply because I'm fickle and keep looking at other options.
I came across a deal yesterday of a new Conquest 3x12x56 for $699 (regular $1,199) at Simmons' tent sale. The glass on the Conquest and light gathering capability of it next to the MeoPro was not a contest, so I was back to square one. The only reason I didn't purchase the Conquest yesterday is because I was a little iffy about the added weight of the 56mm objective.
I've since discovered through other forums that the Terra line is being made for American hunters, has just the same quality of glass as the Conquest does, but much more economically pleasing to the pocketbook. I've found the specs on the 4x12x50 Terra at Sport Optics and they're damn near identical to the previously decided upon Meopta scope.
Any thoughts here?

What will the rifle be used for? If it's not a long range rifle, I really don't see the point of even a 50+mm objective lens.
If it's a gun you plan on stalking with, I would want a lighter/smaller objective too. All three of the scopes you listed are good scopes. The 56mm objective is just excessive for all but the most specific rifles. I would go with the Terra of the three you listed, but otherwise I would go with a 40mm Conquest.

I have two of the Conquest 3x12x56 scopes. They are excellent. Watch eBay. A new one sold for $599 yesterday. I almost bought it but remembered I have a Conquest 3x9x40 in the safe. I'm going to take one of the big Conquests off my .308 and put it on my new rifle.

Just go with the meopta you won't regret it.

I don't know if this matters to you but the Terra is Jap made while the Conquest remains "made" (i.e., assembled) in the US.

Personally I don't like a 56 except on a varmint rifle where you don't move it much and it's always dark when you shoot.
One thing I don't like about Zeiss, it takes 6 full months to get one back from warenty service.

They have any other deals on high end scopes? I am in the market for one myself and like you I am undecided which one I want to go with.
