I think that old dock is supposed to be re-done as part of the new Coastal Campus/River District project. LINK

No that is south. There were plans at one time to make it a piece of art or a building...I guess that isn't going to happen

Here's a link to some designs for it, but I think these are a few years old and pre-date the Coastal Campus plans. Not sure whatever happened with this project--maybe lack of funds or interest? LINK

Lack of interest and overall disdain for Trahan from a lot of people.

As for the current resource center I don't think there is anything other than a master plan for the campus at this time.

Isn't something that old (plantation days) too weak to hold up modern stuff?

Maybe, maybe not. It has to be inspected and tested to see how much weight it can support. It's a welded steel structure so I think it was built (modernized/updated from the original dock) in the 20's or 30's. Also, the corner on the side the bridge is on was hit by a rogue barge so it has some damage to it as well.
