Theoretically, in space you could accelerate to the speed of light given enough time, could you not? There is no friction to stop you from continuously accelerating, that would be the only barrier unless I am mistaken.

It would be approaching zero (your acceleration) if you're using solar to propel the ship. Sure, any small acceleration puts you closer to the speed of light, but..

I'm all for space travel, but if it takes me 100 years to travel to Alpha Centauri, I'd still be dead.

I'm really hoping Interstellar will get people to see the importance of NASA once more. They are criminally underfunded.

Came here to post this.


It "supposedly" can cut the time for a trip to Mars from months to weeks.


This is the type of stuff we need more funding for. Even if it is a long shot.
