They are in the top 10 for aggressive dog breeds. They are on most prohibition lists for apartment complexes.

I just looked it up and you are correct 
I think it's largely because they are a working breed, and can get out of hand if their owner is a lazy dumbass. Definitely a lot of work to train, I guess the people I have encountered were all pretty good owners
