I've had to put 2 dogs down. Never gets easier. Sorry about your dog.
They are better than humans. The more you are around them the more you realize how amazing Dogs are.

We just got done at the vet's office.
Heidi went easy and was surrounded by people who loved her. We cleared out the vet's complimentary treat jar by doing one of her favorite past times; throwing treats in the air and her catching then mid-air.
It was sad to see her mind still sharp as a tack but her body failing her.
I know we give each other a lot of crap on this forum but I'd like to thank everyone for their kind words and support; I stayed with her till the end and it was peaceful.
I will say the fake sympathy from the vet wasn't appreciated. Just come in and do it then leave us be. Also, the receptionist asking if we wanted to pay now or after was kind of cold.
