Let's all get together and reminisce about the greatest baseball movie ever made.

Annie Savoy: What do you believe in, then?
Crash Davis: Well, I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.
Crash: Goodnight.

Crash Davis: This son of a bitch is throwing a two-hit shutout. He's shaking me off. You believe that shite? Charlie, here comes the deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well.

Crash Davis: Why are you shaking me off?
Ebby Calvin LaLoosh: [Gets in Crash's face] I want to give him the heat and announce my presence with authority!
Crash Davis: Announce your fricking presence with authority? This guy is a first ball, fast ball hitter!
Ebby Calvin LaLoosh: Well he hasn't seen my heat!
Crash Davis: [pauses] Allright meat, show him your heat.
[Walks back towards the batter's box]
Crash Davis: [to the batter] Fast ball

Ebby Calvin LaLoosh: [pause] God, that sucker teed off on that like he knew I was gonna throw a fastball!
Crash Davis: He did know.
Ebby Calvin LaLoosh: How?
Crash Davis: I told him.

I'm a big fan of The Natural even though they Disneyfied the ending.

Also, can't leave out Major League.

I would mention League of Their Own, but that would cause the thread to devolve into did she or didn't she drop the ball on purpose.

61 was a really solid movie.

Money Ball.

What other good ones are out there that I left off?

Your shower shoes have fungus on them. You'll never make it to the bigs with fungus on your shower shoes. Think classy, you'll be classy. If you win 20 in the show, you can let the fungus grow back and the press'll think you're colorful. Until you win 20 in the show, however, it means you are a slob.

C'mon, Meat! Throw it! You know you're not gonna hit me, cause you've already started to think about it, eh?! Thinkin' about how embarassing it would be to miss in front of all these people, how somebody might laugh?! Come on, meat, show us that million-dollar arm, 'Cause I got a good idea about that five-cent head of yours!

I'm a sucker for old 40's and 50's baseball movies like the Stratton Story.

Can't believe I left out movies like Pride of the Yankees and Fear Strikes Out.

Now Kafka won't piss on this thread in anger.

My brain isn't working if I left out Field.

I also recall really liking For the Love of the Game but I only saw it once.

- The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars and Motor Kings

Haven't seen it in years, but was a really good movie staring Richard Pryor, James Earl Jones and Billy Dee Williams.

The Bad News Bears - Original of course

Skip: You guys. You lollygag the ball around the infield. You lollygag your way down to first. You lollygag in and out of the dugout. You know what that makes you? Larry!

Larry: Lollygaggers!

Skip: Lollygaggers.

The baseball parts of that movie are absolutely unbelievable. If only they had a better story to tell during that epic no-no it would be the perfect baseball movie.

For Love of the Game is up there for me.

I'd rank my favorite baseball movies
Field of Dreams
Bull Durham
For Love of the Game

I guess that's why I like Costner so much
