why pay a tax when the drivers on the road will pay for it with a toll?

ETA: with that being said I do think a small raise in the gas tax is needed to pay for other road projects since the state has a $9 Billion backlog. However any project that could be paid off with a toll (i.e BR and Laffy loops) should be.

A new bridge and "loop or bypass" should be funded thru tolls on the new facility, and in my opinion, thru a private partnership. You will end up with a better quality facility.

A higher fuel tax is NEEDED to improve and maintain the overall highway system in the state. The current tax on fuel is retardly small. It needs to be increased and the best way is to make the tax based on the price of fuel, not simply a fixed fee.

You want nice shite, institute tolls so we don't have to rely on the federal funds to do shite. It's that simple. But the populace and the politicians don't want to do it.

Tolls are great in theory but the politicians set a bad example with the CCC shenanigans.

No. They can take my fricking tax dollars that are spent on CATs/criminals and re-appropriate them to a loop.

It is my understanding that in Texas, there are international companies (several Japanese) that build some of the major highways and then collect the tolls over the life of the road. Not sure if this LA has considered this or not.

So international businessmen imposing a permanent tax on US citizens good, state governments doing the same bad.

Got it.

Everyone on welfare should be forced to work on these massive projects for their monthly checks, (Non skilled positions) of course. or they get nothing. That should give us a 10,000 person work force right there. Toll for everything else. Everyone wins

Why would I want to spend money on something that will be finished after I am dead and gone?
