As compared to what? To me salads have gotten insanely priced these days. An entire head of lettuce at the store costs like maybe $2? Yet a pretty basic grilled chicken salad will run you like $7-$9 or more at many places.

i make smoothies at my house and they're probably $4 altogether easy (they're large, though)

i mainly make a smoothie with 1-2 bananas, strawberries, fresh blueberries, 1-2 spoons of greek yogurt, a handful of frozen blueberries, a handful of frozen berry mix, and like half a cup of almond milk. and i throw in 2 branches of raw kale, and a tespoon of chia seed and flax seed.

I'll get a small gladiator from time to time with peanut butter and a fruit. Not terrible for 5 dollars and fills me up.

I prefer at home, though. Outside of the bananas, everything is either juice or soaked in syrup. You can get them to wash off the ones that are actually fruit if you really want.

i justify my smoothies' calories b/c they do a good job of filling me up, getting in extra kale, and i really do have a decrease in desire to eat sweets. if i was eating that syrup shite, i'd might as well just go buy some cherry sours and eat more fiber pills that day

Who orders a medium smoothie?

The smalls are hard enough to finish.

I've seen people order large hulks.

Only 2000 calories, nbd

I made the mistake of ordering a Hulk. Once. Before I realized what the hell I had done to myself.

I love SK's Activators and Slim-n-Trims, though.

I justify my smoothies by not thinking about the price or sugar.

people willing to pay

i go to the local aldi's grocery and can get bananas at 35 cents a pound. strawberries at 1.25 per pound.

to make one smoothie for me (tastes better than sk and is a lot healthier), i freeze a overriped banana and add 1/2 a pound of strawberries. add about 4 oz of skim milk. blend. i get probably 30 oz for about 60 or 70 cents total.

all that protein and other stuff the meatheads add, i don't want.

overall, for your money and what you get, and trust me on this, gladiator is the best bang for you buck....there's a lot of fluff to some of those drinks and I'm amazed at how expensive they have gotten on some of the basic ones

btw, aldi's has had canadian grown and picked blueberries (large and so sweet) for 1.19/pint for the last 3 weeks. a pint is about 12 oz. so extrapolate that to $1.60/pound for blueberries.

great deal and a i have about 20 pints in the freezer waiting to go for the rest of the year. just started juicing a few months ago and loving it. cheaper and my bowels have never felt so good.

I used to make my own for breakfast, too: 1 banana, 1 flavored yogurt, 1 cup of milk, 1/2 cup of orange juice, and 1 cup of frozen strawberries.

They were good but not even in the same league as SK.

Last SK I had was Thursday. Then started on a keto diet Sunday. No more smoothies for me.
