What a useless record. It's like winning a perfect attendance ribbon. Means nothing regarding production or usefulness. Plus didn't he sit out some strike games that were supposed to count and MLB later decided that they wouldn't count?

No. The "strike games" were in 1981. Ripken wasn't even in the Majors yet.

Actually, it does. Nobody plays that many games in a row unless they are productive for an extremely long time.
