Bottom line, police all around the country are losing the public relations war. Not only do law abiding citizens no longer trust the police, they are beginning to hate them.

This isn't all on the cops though. we now live in a society where no one is accountable for their actions. everything is always someone else's fault, and people have the attitude that "I shouldn't have to deal with the consequences of my own actions"

Maybe not with the general public, but with bikers, the longstanding mistrust of cops is reaching new levels of intensity in may circles. In the past few years the emergence of a new so-called club going by the name "Iron Order" which is viewed in the biker world as a "cop club" has really created a lot of problems and things look like they could boil over soon.

And instead of anything worth a shite, you call me a fig and a count. It's pretty funny you think so highly of yourself when all you do is curse people out when someone disagrees with you.

How about saying something worthwhile?

Keep thinking that while hundreds of videos are posted on the internet showing your profession's true colors. Just a few years ago, I had a lot of respect for police officers. That respect is long gone.

That is exactly what happened. I just did it b/c you disagreed with me, not b/c you said something like this:

quote:

Nothing on this planet is infallible.

Cpt and TigerBait think their logic is

That is really something worthwhile

It never says he had a taser. It says he had a baton and pepper spray. Two non lethal options but he goes for the lethal one. But please continue defending the cop

While some of those videos do show abuse of power by cops, many of them don't show you the entire story.

What is your definition of the word spin?

I think you were looking for this word: Hypocrite

If police only wore a device that could record all of their interactions with citizens...

I will. Unfortunately we now do live in a nanny state where the average citizen is more reliant on police than at any other time in the history of this country. People used to handle small matters themselves but now they call the police when a neighbor leaves his trash can out too long. Asking the police to handle every problem that arises only strengthens the reliance the public has on them. Just because you see only one side of this issue, because people gravitate towards others who share ther views, does not mean that the world is that way.

I have addressed this issue NUMEROUS times on this board. I am a HUGE advocate for body cams just as every other officer I know is but departments are strapped for cash and money doesn't come out of thin air. People don't want to pay a higher millage to buy cameras for the police.

No, you spin things. Like trying to say I attacked your fiancée. Or turning that other thread into a debate about popularity. You take things spin things all out of whack to just keep arguing.

It's funny you act like threads are over when I show up. You're the one that will keep it going forever. You brought up a thread from last year in that thread yesterday. That's just pathetic.

Different than us. Doesn't make it better. The cop felt threatened and reacted. It's easy to say it was too much when you weren't in his situation and have all the details now. He didn't at the time. All he heard was a suspicious character banging on the windows and said person lunged at him.

You just described George Zimmerman's actions yet he was indicted and subjected to a jury trial, as I would be if I heard a noise outside house and went out and shoot an unarmed naked man because I felt threatened. I would also be the defendant in a civil suit brought by the victims family, the cop doesn't have to worry about that.

And acquitted.

Why doesn't he have to worry about that?

Yep, military gear and equipment is expensive these days. Leaves no room for things like body cams.

edit: lawsuits against police officers and the department are expensive too

after being bankrupted by legal fees, being made an infamous public figure, probably not very employable, and ostracized by most of society
ETA: similar, but on a smaller scale of defending against a bogus DUI charge, a discussion we beat to death here often, by the time it's over, the damage is about as bad a a conviction
