They started construction in spring of this year. At 3280 feet (1000m), this bad boy will stand about 500 ft taller than the Burj Khalafi. That is a big jump IMO.

In the ego driven race to go higher and higher, will we ever see one go a mile high? You know some sheik somewhere is already planning one taller.

BTW- the construction cost is est. at 1.2 billion

Still 800 million less than the fricking Clippers!

Yes. Same as Jerry World. I know it is an impressive venue but I just thought Kingdom Tower would cost a good bit more. Over 2 billion for sure.

They are pretty much using slave labor over there.

They all just need more input of money and manpower.

That's patently false.

That's like saying if you threw enough money and manpower at the inner cities they'd magically be fixed.

I mean, if the "manpower" means armed murderous soldiers...

Sure. Wiping a population out is one way of "solving" a "problem".

My father lives in Saudi Arabia and he has some stories. They took him on a field trip Deera Square where all the beheadings take place. It was undergoing remodeling apparently to accommodate more visitors.

Saudi society is actually very western but constrained by religious laws. One of their sayings is "Western culture but eastern values."

It's an odd place. Apparently the women take great pride in doing their eyes since its the only visible part of their body.

Also, the Saudis don't actually work. They're all on government stipend apparently from oil revenues. Another reason they don't revolt.

I didn't think I was afraid of heights but thinking about being on the top floor of that thing and looking out makes my uneasy.

Saudi is actually very safe. They don't play around with nonsense since their entire economy is based around foreign oil presence for most part.

Amazing what threat of beheadings seems to accomplish in deterring the common criminal.
