Has the world ever condemned Israel for civilian deaths? Has anything ever happened?

The death toll is rising, 75% of which are civilians according to this NY Times article, and the article goes on to state Israel blames Hamas for operating behind civilians intentionally.

I got to wondering, if this is indeed Hamas' strategy, what is their endgame? It seems like every time there's some tussle over there, some palestinian civvies get killed in a disproportionate fashion and Hamas gets blamed for hiding behind women and children. So, what's the point? If they are indeed doing this, it doesn't seem to be working very well for whatever intent they may have. I can't recall any serious sanctions or reprimand directed towards Israel. Is it just to garner sympathy from other Islamic countries? If so, that doesn't seem to be doing them a whole lot of good either.

Surely Hamas is getting some kind of tangible benefit for the deaths of what they claim are their own people, or they wouldn't keep facilitating it every so often.

And I am not anti-Israel, I believe they have to be hard-assess when everyone around them wants them annihilated. Just trying to get some insight into the whole situation.

sure but these kind of tactics don't exactly win the hearts and minds.

they are literally creating terrorists as we speak, some of whom will grow up and decide that the US is another satan via our blind support of israel.

I guess if you don't count continued attacks by its neighbors, then no.

Israel has never suffered repercussions for civilian deaths or the deaths of American sailors.

Until Israel breaks out the steam rollers and bulldozers to level gaza and totally clear the area these type of events will have every few years...
Muslims in general care for no one, civilians or otherwise. Why should any of us care about them?

Gaza is the most densely populated real estate on the planet, which means that it's impossible for Hamas to get far away from civilians. Additionally, Israel doesn't have the stomach for military casualties, even when confronted with an enemy that's willing to fight them far away from civilians. The proof of this is the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah War. Hezbollah evacuated its civilians to northern Lebanon away from the Israeli border and dug in their heels in southern Lebanon, and dared the IDF to come and get them. But after Hezbollah destroyed an entire column of Israeli armor, Israel retreated and started bombing civilians in northern Lebanon from the sky, despite the fact that they knew the bulk of Hezbollah's army was in southern Lebanon.

EDIT: Back in the day, the IDF was probably one of the toughest militaries on the planet, but in 2014, they're only good at killing 11-year-old rock throwers.

Dummy, the bombs aren't hitting children. The children are standing in the way of the bombs. Essentially its the kids who are hitting the bombs. Stupid muslim kids... When will they learn and stop standing and sitting under where bombs fall?

Honest answer, the U.S. doesn't even hold Israel accountable when they kill our guys. U.S.S Liberty, for example.

Israel runs this country's middle eastern foreign policy via AIPAC and our whore politicians.

These civilians elected a terrorist organization to head their government and they were warned to het out.

Are you angry that them rockets aren't killing Israelis, cause they are damn sure trying.

The who Arab world needs to ne subjugated until they turn over the terrorist they wilfully harbor.

Anyone that take the side of a terrorist organization is a POS.

Haaretz has an article titled, "The world is sick of Israel and its insanities" by Gideon Levy. It's a premium article from last month but here's another site where one can read the article:

LINK

I realize this from an Israeli news journalist and I think Mr. Levy (writer) makes some valid points. However, I do believe most of the world does care about what's going on. But I think it's just tired of all the Israeli focused media attention and the almost continuous hate/fighting coming from all sides involved.

You've already built your foundation, you've left little room for "insight."

Has Hamas ever suffered negative repercussions for their human shield strategy?

If someone is shooting rockets at you from right beside hospitals and schools what do you do?
