Looking to live in a safe place where there's a lot going on. (Not around the FQ/Bourbon.

Nola haters not needed here, purely looking for advice.

If you have to ask, then there's a reason - NOLA isn't safe.

The fact that you have to clarify this should tell you something.

There's lots of areas to choose from. Are you looking for apartment complex, condo, or house for rent?

Areas Uptown are very convenient and in the thick of things, but are a bit more expensive than Mid-City. There are some blocks to avoid in both areas.

Fauburg Marigny and By-Water are a bit hipper but also a bit rougher.

Fauburg St. John has good access to Bayou St. John and City Park. Nice area but also grittier on some blocks.

Depending on your budget and tastes, the Warehouse/Arts District is coming on strong with lots of activity and very safe.

Holly Grove is a hot area. Lots of great affordable housing.
