Quite a great time.

Gruene / Gruene Hall is a very cool area.

Bass fished on the lake a few times but usually ran up the river. Cool area, and the lake it pretty and clear water. Great party area as well with the school nearby.

I'd consider going down to Gruene as well and checking out a concert or tubing.

My dad almost bought the marina and restaurant back in 89-90ish. I was in grade school and spent a week up there when he was looking at books/property and doing whatever dad's do when thinking about buying a nearly bankrupt business. I had a blast, the water was crystal clear and cold. It's beautiful.

The lake is beautiful. Never swam in it though. Just been to it not in it.

how many acres?

Bout 900 20 minutes from Llano. Our small group pays approx 20k for year round use. It's not a high fence and we also pay for electricity and corn.

I hear it's hard to find that perfect setup (well-managed deer population, good land, good members, and not too expensive), but I think our place is perfect. We just don't have a lodge with cooks like some places.

Went there last October and loved it. Definitely worth the trip.

It's beautiful out there and a great place to get away. I know a couple folks that have houses out there and go at least once a year. It can get crowded during holidays, but it's usually pretty nice any other time.

Even when it's crowded, there's a ton of eye candy, so it's not much of a problem IMO.

I lived in NB for a year or so, about a mile from Gruene... my parents drove their RV out and stayed on canyon lake for a few weeks... absolutely loved it out there. Also saw Eli Young Band at the little ampitheater out that way... Good times

I really miss living out there

Chicken, water us great, it will be low but its somewhat controlled so there is never a problem with ramps or access to different parts of the lake.

Deer are everywhere and roads are curvey around the hills with little lighting, just be careful at night, always a bunch of wrecks at night during the summer when out of owners come.

Places of interest around there are Gruene hall for your Texas country music and The Salt Lick which us a relatively famous BBQ joint that is outside and byob.

As for hunting Idk, my pops had a big lease with 3 others outside of Fredericksburg in the 90s for $500 a gun, not sure what it is like now a days.
