Actually, I went home and did other shite.

I was alive during the era. That's how I know how pretentious the show was and why it was basically a systematic patronization of baby boomers. My definition is sound, btw You, on the other hand, seem to think that if you say something enough times, it will become true.

Seriously, do you think you're going to talk me into liking it? I don't get why you're so overheated about it.

Tell you what. I'll throw you a bone. There was one episode I really did like, the one in which the blonde guy died. God, he was annoying. His agent must have been pretty annoying too, a cause he got fired. But hey, at least he got to make that really awesome volleyball movie with Ponyboy. Great career move, dude.

Honestly, I don't care about talking you into like the show...because I barely liked it.

Liked Hope, that's about it...and the premise was interesting...because it was the first to exist solely in the adult stratosphere.

But like when people use Ironic as "coincidence" - I think exposing people to actual definitions to improve dialogue and understanding is important.

Sportscasters keep repeating ironic as a synonym for coincidence and people like you keep using "pretentious" for a cultural thing they disagree with - that isn't seen as rooted, simple or down home...ergo, snobby or cultured becomes "pretentious" or effete when that isn't remotely what it means.

The point of 30-something was to get away from adolescent "problems" in TV shows...and crap which we have seen this last decade in movies - Apatow effect.

Those adolescent problems are pretentious. 30 Something was adult life.

I had to watch that and that stupid Bruce Willis- Cybil Shepard show around the same time.
No longing for it.
