Seems really cool for a special event game. I'd love to see those when we play Wisconsin

I thought it was always the current "gold"

It used to be more of a gold color like Notre Dame. The newer color used over the last 30-40 years is more of a yellow color.

Well, of course I know the CURRENT color.

I was unaware that it was once the other gold.

But, thanks for that info ( about past gold)

Being a traditionalist, I wouldn't want to see LSU wearing those outside of a "special" situation.

That said, they are neateaux.

PS - yes, I'm biased, but I think LSU's uniforms are the nicest looking in all of college football.

I like the deep old gold look, my thing about the pic in OP and comparing it to Washington is the primary white with secondary purple and that light gold accent. It just doesn't seem LSU to me. Not saying it's not a cool looking helmet.

I like it, hope they use on a 1 time basis. Would be great for the season opener.

LSU changed it to the current, more-yellow, Goldenrod color because it supposedly looks better on television. That was one of the main reasons for the gold color change. I guess they thought the old gold would look too dark on black and white TV. I don't have the exact history but that is the gist of the color change.
