So now I'm jealous bc your old arse can't let go of his son?

Why don't you hand him a new car that I'm sure you didn't work for

The little GTI is fun as well. The turbo on the TDI is pretty fast too for what it is.

Do ford fusions have a good track record for running 100K+ miles?

Dude it is 2014, ALL cars easily make it to 100k these days. Another good thing is if anything goes wrong Fords are easier to fix than most cars.

Eta: I am skeptical of ford also.

Do some research and take one for a test drive, I think you will really like them. I was VERY surprised at how cool they were when I test drove one, thats all.

The Volkswagen Golf is awesome. I'd also recommend the diesel variant.

I believe one of her "musts" is a 4 door car. ETA: NM, I see the first 2 were 4 door.

Madam- what does she do at the plant?

The Jetta GLI is a 4 door car, the GTI is not. Both are great cars.

I just saw that, my bad. I have never been in one since I think they would be a little small for me, 6"5 225, but I have heard they are VERY fun to drive.

I drove a friend of mines GTI for a few days when he was out of town. Before I drove it, it never appealed to me at all. That little car is scary fast and you can do donuts with so little effort that it scares you all the while still being in complete control.

I did this for almost 3 years, in Los Angeles!!!! I had a brand new Tahoe on 22s and a brand new Chrysler 300 on 22s, the first year they came out, and I would drive one for a week and then switch to the other and that helped a bit. I think I would have gone crazy sitting in a smaller car for that long each day. I had in dash DVD players in both so that helped when traffic was terrible but that commute still SUCKS, no matter where you live!

It's all highway with no traffic and a constant speed. She also has to make calls into her office so she takes care of those each way.

Ya that's a lot better than 65 miles each way in L.A. traffic. The ONLY upside about it was most nights I would stay at the office until at least 8pm to help avoid traffic and that helped my income quite a bit.
