Basically, that is the question. For instance, let's say you meet a guy while out on the town over the weekend and you give the poor bastard your number. I have heard some girls "hate" talking on the phone, when at one time it was expected. Yet others might be offended if they were only to be contacted through social networks such as snapchat. What do you expect or wish to occur from the transaction?

A text?

A call?

Instagram/snapchat?

Dick pic?

It seems the wishes and expectations of women have changed, so enlighten me on what is your preferred method of communication....

A call if you want to make plans soon.

A text if you want to chat now, plans later.

I don't like anything that requires me to talk on the phone. I also don't like texting.

In fact, just email me.

Text has become the norm. A phone call actually might be a pleasant surprise. But I guess texting and other non-verbal methods allow some flexibility for nerves, rejection, etc. Not that any OT baller ever gets rejected!

Sorry, but she just doesn't want to hear from you. Doesn't matter how.

It is a serious source of frustration for me right now. All girls want to do is text.

Girls my age appreciate a phone call but bedding these 21 year olds now and they think it's weird to call.

I'm 33 and it's funny because as a teen, you couldn't get us off the phone. Parents had to get a 2nd line in the 90's just so they could get calls. All we did was talk on the phone. Weird to think that has pretty much gone away.

You could always use the Trill method...

Then you never even need to worry about getting a number.

My experience dating in the 30s is that talking is still seen as the more mature way to communicate, but even that is fading a bit. I suspect under 30s just want to text.

I agree with LSU Lilly. Texting is for playful banter. Man up and call if you want to make plans

I didn't call 'em when I called 'em.

Unless it was really, really late.

You're over thinking it. Just do whatever you feel like and if she doesn't respond, move on.

Most girls under 35 or so are lying if they say they want a phone call. Otherwise they wouldn't text you all day, which they all do

I am bookmarking this thread and taking notes. I think now that I have been very single for about 3 1/2 years, it may be time to jump back into the dating scene. Not sure I'll do it, but I'm thinking about it.

I guess it depends on age. I feel old, but at 28 I'd be offended if I was contacted other than a phone call or text.
