I like the idea of having an OB'er from each section of the state on a team. That would help prevent a team comprised of one part of the state from dominating.....

Love the idea, not sure how the semantics would work out. Which/how many sections would the state be broken into? 4? 5? NWLA, NELA, SELA, SWLA, CENLA?

Secondly, what if you have someone who hunts half the time in Delacroix and half the time in Monroe?

Again, I like the idea of it to spread out the scoring (I'm in NWLA, no way am I competing with any other parts of the state for mallards...), but we need a just way to break it up.

If it takes you a box of shells to kill 6 ducks.. regardless of kind...

and it takes someone 8 shells to kill 6 regardless of kind..

8 shots wins..

I think it should be 4 zones..

Use the city of Alexandria as your center point for a cross and there u have Nwla, Nela, Swla, Sela

Easy

Using those zones everyone post which one they are in according to where they hunt. Then start a draft but only picking one from each zone until u have a team of 4.

OK, that cover the zones. What about people who hunt multiple zones? Do ducks from certain zones get extra points?

ETA: For instance, I usually hunt NWLA, but around Christmas I travel home to BR and make hunts in SELA. How would that be scored?

So I would fall in Sela and I get a Nela partner?

See above.... If you hunt multiple pick the one u hunt the most or the one u think u will hunt the most.

See that way there is some strategy involved since I can only have one guy from each zone

Your ducks would count the same... U would be representing the NW since that's where u hunt the most and there's no way to force people to stay in their zone

Scores would be higher this way but it's also more strategy since u can only have one guy from each zone

GEAUXCATS10
2014-2015 OB Waterfowl Shoot-Out Rule Proposal

Teams must consist of 4 members-- one from each zone (NWLA,NELA,SWLA,SELA)

The zones are determined by drawing a cross through the middle of Alexandria... (Center Point should be around where I-49 meets the Pineville Expressway)

To determine your zone pick the area of the state you hunt the most or plan to hunt the most.

A draft will commence when enough people have posted their zones.

Remember only one member from each zone is allowed on a team.

This will allow some strategy to take place, rather than having a stacked team of a bunch of people hunting the same area.

-Scoring System:
specks = 7 points (cause you gotta be able to call)
snows = 5 points
mallards & Pintail = 4 points
Other Big ducks(widgeon, grays, spoonies, woodies, etc) 2
Teal 2

All other legal ducks that count towards your limit: 1 pt (ringneck, dos gris, redheads, etc...) And where do canvasback score? FWIW, I think spoonies should be in with the divers. So either everything outside of mallards and pintails is 2 pts, or you have
M&P - 4 pt
Widgeon, Gadwall, Woodies, Teal, CANS - 2 pt
All others - 1 pt (including spoonies, blackjacks, scaup, redheads, etc...)

Avoyelles is almost entirely SELA. I followed 167 North to separate NWLA and NELA and 49/90 south to Morgan City to separate SWLA and SELA.

Thoughts?
